Josephus III’s “Poetry is Life” Album Release
If you’ve ever been to a Reasons 2 Rhyme event, you will always hear Josephus’ favorite saying, “Poetry is Life”.
Josephus III lives and breathes the lifestyle of poetry knowing that it holds the keys to unlocking his dreams. Fulfilling his potential, on Saturday, May 14 at the Triad Stage at 8 p.m. is his “Poetry is Life” album release party. It has been four years since Josephus released his last album, making this his third. Why is this a significant milestone in Josephus’ career if he has already released two previous albums you may ask? The answer to this is, “The best things in life come in threes: like friends, dreams and memories”.
Creating airwaves through the music industry, “Poetry is Life” album has gained national exposure. His’ first single “Poetry” music video has been featured on VH1 and MTV2. “Poetry is Life” is what gives Josephus’ life of sense and purpose. It is the force that drives his motivation to determination. Heart and soul will help tell the story of Josephus, why he is the way he is, and what brought him to this point. These components are the themes on the anticipated album of the story he will be soon tell.
The “Poetry is Life” album release party is the grand finale of The Road to Release Series. It will be a celebration as we recognized the accomplishments that Josephus has succeeded and the lifestyle of the arts that we have grown to love. The release party isn’t just any ordinary event; it is a symbol of a thank you. A special thank you for supporting Josephus on his journey.

This History of Poetry Slams
Poetry Slams is a competition at which poets perform original work. The performances are judged on a numeric scale by a judging panel. This high-energy spoken word competition is packed with gifted poets that make you feel the rhythm of their message and the beat of it’s’ soul. It’s only natural to be captivated in the world of spoken word, while the poets are battling to be number one.
Marc Smith is credited to be the founding father of poetry slams. He originally started at the Get Me High Lounge in Chicago in November 1984. He then moved the slam to its permanent home, the Green Mill Jazz club in July 1986.
The 90’s was a decade that birth several things in our culture. It is the decade that the 1st National Poetry Slam took place at Fort Mason of San Francisco. It involved a team from Chicago, San Francisco, and an individual poet from New York. 10 years later, the National Poetry Slam is one of the biggest competitions across the nation. It features 80 certified teams that compete for five days.
Poetry Slams have spread all over the world making it an global event. Germany, Sweden, France, Austria, Israel, Ukraine, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Serbia, Bosnia, Denmark, and even Japan. Poetry slams is just another key to open doors for poetry to influence the world.
No Music. No Band. No Boundaries…BOUNDLESS
The Road to Release: Boundless is a one man show featuring Josephus III on Friday, April 22 at 8 p.m. The show will take place at the Triad Stage, located on 232 South Elm Street in Greensboro, NC; admission is $15.
Boundless provides a gateway to Josephus’ personal story on how he sees poetry and the affect that it has within him. There are no boundaries when it comes to poetry for Josephus III, and he will use every inch of his talent to express himself to capture the moments throughout the show. Peeling back the several layers of his personality, Josephus will be the definition of raw talent and the prime example of an introvert.
Boundless is the third puzzle of the Road to Release four-part series before the new Album Release of Josephus III on Saturday, May 14 at 8 p.m. at the Triad Stage. Come witness the foundation of Josephus’s art as he painting pictures in your mind through your ears. Silence and words of Josephus will be the music and the band as it will break the boundaries. Be the journey. Be boundless.
Unite, Today is History!
Over the years African Americans have made great progress towards equality and America has a lot to be proud of. In today’s America, racial barriers and glass ceilings are being broken more and more each day.
This month, Reasons 2 Rhyme challenges you to share your racial experiences and family history and to also listen to someone else’s stories. No one person can do it alone so keep the spirit of your community alive by using this historic month as an opportunity to unite and stand as one. History starts with your decisions today so make those decisions count.
Reasons 2 Rhyme is dedicated to making this black history month special. So share the black experience with us and join us for our first show of the 2011 series, I Am History on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. at the Dana Auditorium located on the campus of Guilford College. This is the 7th annual black history program sponsored by Guilford College. This show is fused with the power of spoken word, live music and dance; fans will experience poetry in a way they have never seen it before. This event is FREE and open to the public.
Dana Auditorium is located at 5800 West Friendly Ave and doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Raising the bar to the next level, the 2011 season of Reason 2 Rhyme will reach your expectations and more. We are pleased to be back and have an opportunity to host our original shows. Thank you all again for welcoming Reasons 2 Rhyme back and we will deliver the performances you deserve. We are honored to be a product of Greensboro and humbled at the fact that all of you helped to make Reasons 2 Rhyme successful.
This year Reasons 2 Rhyme will be a combination of FREE and Affordably Priced Shows. We have grown to unimaginable heights, and with your continued support, we can take this series to another level to continue to expand our purpose to have poetry seen, heard and experienced.
Reasons 2 Rhyme would like to welcome you back to the first show of the season, I Am History. This year’s show speaks to the history people make daily by touching the lives of others through their actions and decisions. This show is fused with the power of spoken word, live music and dance; fans will experience poetry in a way they have never seen it before. I Am History, is a representation of Black History because of the things we do daily to create our legacy and write the stories of our lives. Our music, our words, our dances all fall in line with our culture and who we are as a people and a community. We have to step outside of the box as to what defines us and what we celebrate. We are phenomenal, and it shows in so much of what we do on a daily basis.
I Am History will take place on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. at the Dana Auditorium on the campus of Guilford College, located at 5800 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, N.C.
This show is FREE, and doors will open at 7:30 p.m.
